Park History

Riptide Rapids started with a simple idea—build the kind of waterpark we always wished existed. Bigger drops, better slides, fewer lines. And maybe more places to just float and do nothing for a while.

We opened our gates back in 2014. Not everything was perfect—our first lazy river flooded a bit too far (long story), and we may have overestimated how fast people would run to ride a 70-foot drop on day one. But over time, we figured it out. We added more shade. We learned which rides needed longer splash zones. We even started offering real food, not just pretzels and ice cream—though those are still essential, obviously.

Today, Riptide Rapids has grown into one of the region’s top water attractions. People come for the thrills, stay for the atmosphere, and maybe even discover a favorite spot they keep coming back to. Some say it’s the slides. Others just like the wave pool at sunset. We’re not sure, honestly—but we’re glad you’re here to find out for yourself.
